Her Christmas Tree Dress Was The Highlight Of The Party by Janet Hill
Its always a surprise how quickly the holidays arrive. This year seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye. Some years I find it hard to get in the spirit of the holidays, but not this year. I am so ready to decorate the house and most importantly - spend time with family and friends.
I have spent a lot of time lately thinking about how thankful I am to each of you. To my much loved customers, to my supportive friends and family, to my fellow Etsians who drop by with words of encouragement and support - all of you have helped me take my little dream and make it a reality. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
My sweet friend, Susan, of Hometown Girl posted these questions the other day and it was really fun getting to know her better. So I thought I would play along too. You can find out more on her blog.
What is your favorite word? Mom
What is your least favorite word? No
What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? I respond strongly, both emotionally and creatively, to color. A color and/or color combination can set my mind whirling and ideas will fly at me faster than I can jot them down.
What turns you off? Anything that involves math, ugh!
What sound or noise do you love? Laughter
What sound or noise do you hate? Nails on a chalkboard
What is your favorite thing to say when you get mad? Umm..nothing I would like to repeat here. Sadly, I must confess that I have quite a potty mouth.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Interior decorator
What profession would you not like to do? A nurse or doctor. I hate when people are in pain. When I was in high school, I volunteered to be a candy striper at a local hospital. I spent most of the time crying.
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Welcome!
Hope you have a great weekend!
I have a LOT of stuff. I'm starting to get tired of it too - I can never find what I'm looking for. So this weekend, my big plans are to pull everything out of the closets and onto the back porch where I can start sorting things into 3 big piles - keepers, garage sale, goodbye garbage. Of course when I thought of this plan yesterday afternoon, the sun was shining....I woke up this morning to black skies & rain. I told Elijah of my big plans last night and I'm willing to bet money he prayed for the rain. Luckily, my back porch has a roof.
In the meantime, I have a little giveaway for you! This giveaway is for the new Spring 2010 issue of Somerset Life, which happens to have an article by my sweet friend, Susan.
If you are interested, leave a comment at the end of this post. Next Friday, May 7, I'll pick a lucky winner using the random number generator.
Have a great weekend!
This April, I'll be participating in the Bizarre Bazaar held by the Beaumont Art League. I'm starting to get really excited about it too. They host this art festival every year as a fundraiser and membership drive. The festival includes art and craft demonstrations as well as booths for handmade items, art, vintage finds and other goodies.
Two of the ladies I work with will be there too. One sells vintage items and antiques; the other makes jewelry too. I was able to convince my Dad to get a booth beside me so that he can display his wood turning bowls and vessels. I really need to share pictures of his work with you, it's fantastic. My son stays with him during the day throughout the summer and my Dad has been teaching him to turn wood too.
I'll be displaying my Kande jewelry as well as a couple of my oil paintings - yes, I actually painted the sunflowers in the above pic. I've spent the last few days on a jewelry making bender as well as trying to figure out how I'll display everything. This weekend, weather permitting, E and I will be painting and distressing some tables. I can hardly wait to get started!
Etsy is full of so many talented artisans & fabulous vintage finds. I'd like to share a few of my favorites with you today. Enjoy!
